Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History began offering education with 35 students in the 1994-1995 academic year under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and gave its first graduates at the end of the 1997-1998 academic year. In the 1998-1999 academic year, a second education program was opened in our department. So far, 1,934 students have graduated from our department.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History consists of six main disciplines: Ancient History, General Turkish History, Medieval History, Early Modern History, Modern History and History of the Republic of Turkey. A Master’s program has been available since the 1994-1995 academic year. A PhD program was opened in the 2019-2020 academic year. In accordance with the decision published in the Official Gazette dated July 26, 2022 and numbered 5868, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was affiliated to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences after the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science were established in place of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, there are 664 students enrolled in our undergraduate program, 370 of whom are in First Education and 294 in Second Education. 16 of them are foreign nationals.
